About Emelie

Emelie Östergren, born in 1982, is a Swedish illustrator and author of books for children and adults. She studied at Konstfack in Stockholm. Her comics, children’s books and illustrations have been published in Sweden and abroad, notably in the American magazine The Believer.

In autumn 2023, she and Emma Virke published a unique picture book, Presenten (a “three books in one”, about the power of fairy tales and imagination), which was nominated for The August Prize.

2024 her first independent theaterplay Frankas monster was played at Dramaten Ung Scen, The royal theater in Stockholm.

She is also known for her comic books Evil Dress and Duke and His Army - A Dream Revisited, published by Sanatorium Press.
